The all-new Škoda Elroq has been crowned Best Medium Crossover at the prestigious UK Car of the Year Awards 2026, cementing its position as one of the most impressive electric vehicles on the market today.
Judges praised the Elroq for its “refined driving dynamics, clever interior packaging and outstanding overall value”, highlighting how confidently it leads its class in a highly competitive segment.
The Elroq impressed the judging panel for delivering everything drivers love about the larger Enyaq – but in a more compact, accessible and affordable package.
James Batchelor commented:
“Škoda has played a blinder here and successfully downsized everything that makes the larger Enyaq so great but put it into a smaller package. The fact that it's good fun to drive and has a quality feeling interior is the icing on the cake.”
Paul Barker added:
“Brilliant all-round package, good value and plenty of typically clever Škoda touches.”
Meanwhile, Guy Bird praised the Elroq’s design and simplicity:
“Quietly does so much right, without fuss and complication while wearing Škoda’s smart new exterior face.”

And Matt Robinson summed up the panel’s verdict perfectly:

Unlike award programmes that divide vehicles into numerous niche categories, the UK Car of the Year Awards focus on just eight key sectors, selecting one overall winner from each. This year’s judging panel included respected motoring journalists from leading publications such as Top Gear and Auto Express, alongside prominent freelance automotive writers. The Elroq was unanimously placed at the top of the medium crossover category.
John Challen concluded:

The overall UK Car of the Year 2026 winner will be announced later this February after final back-to-back testing of all category champions.
